Implementing an age verification approach requires careful balancing of user privacy, data security, and frictionless access. Regulations like GDPR, eIDAS, and sector-specific rules mandate strict data minimization, lawful basis for processing, and robust security controls. There are also performance metrics to manage—false positives may block legitimate users, and false negatives allow underage access—so tuning algorithms and choosing appropriate verification modalities is critical.
